Moore and Moore Miracles!

HEY Y’ALL! How is everything!? This week was good! Lots of exciting stuff coming in the next couple weeks! Stay tuned 🙂 BUT, this week…there were truly Moore and Moore miracles every day:

Kel– is doing great! She opened up a lot and has been reading all the chapters we give her from the Book of Mormon! She even sat in on Jaron’s lesson and participated!

Jaron– Complete miracle with him! He has been kind of argumentative in our lessons. We were originally going to teach him the Doctrine of Christ at our appointment, but we got there and he hadn’t read. Then, inspired Sister Cooper whipped out Alma 32 and we read it together. He was so taken back by it that he underlined almost the whole chapter! We asked him if he had any questions and he just sat there in silence, then said, “No, I just liked it all.” He prayed at the end of our lesson and said in the prayer, “Thank you for sending these Sisters to leave me completely in awe by this chapter.” I couldn’t help but crack a little grin. Of course it wasn’t us, it was the Spirit softening his heart and him for being open to the Spirit! Miracles miracles!

Doug– is getting baptized next Saturday! He is so ready! People in the ward don’t even think he’s an investigator! He called us the other day informing us that he has called everyone for the talks, refreshments, etc. He is so on top of it!

Jessie– She is a 9-year-old girl whose mom is a member. For the 5 months Sister Cooper has been here, she has hardly heard Jessie say more than a couple words. So, it has made it a little difficult to teach and gauge whether or not she’s understanding anything. But…Wednesday we prayed that she would open up and talk, and during the lesson that day she just gabbed away! She gave examples in the lesson about repentance, told us why she wants to be baptized, and even said the prayer at the end. MIRACLE. Heavenly Father has really been blessing us this week with so many miracles! Jessie also set a baptismal date for October 12th!

We have an older, less-active sister in our ward who never comes to church, but we visit and read with her every week. I felt prompted that we should not read this week, but instead watch The Restoration. It was downpouring rain that day! When we asked her if we could watch this film instead of read, she invited her grandson to watch with us who apparently had never agreed to be a part of the lessons until now. The spirit was strong as we watched it. The grandson asked us questions after and the sister was in tears. She expressed her love for her mother who had accepted the Gospel when she was young and told us that her sister is still active and happy. Then, on Sunday…she CAME TO CHURCH!

On Saturday, I got a call from the AP’s and I WILL BE TRAINING A NEW MISSIONARY! AH! I have never felt so inadequate, but I am excited! Currently my “daughter” (mission lingo) is in the MTC. I am excited to meet her! So, yes, I got transfer doctrine early. I am staying in Moore and training, and Sister Cooper is leaving. We won’t find our where until next Sunday!

Spiritual thought of the week: Prayer. I have been thinking a lot about how to have effective, answer-filled prayers. I found this quote from the article “Improving Our Personal Prayers” by Elder Kevin W. Pearson in the June Ensign that says:

“Prayer is an alignment process. We don’t move God to our point of view. Prayer is less about changing our circumstances and more about changing us. It is about seeking His will and asking for His help to do what we need to do. When we align our will with Father’s will, answers and spiritual power will flow more freely. This allows us to pray with faith.”

I love you all! Have a great week and pray for Moore!
