Our Purpose!

Hello family, friends and all!

This week was great! On Monday evening we had our STM (Zone conference), and we all went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse before. At the STM we discussed what the guest speakers had talked about which was our purpose as missionaries and how we should be telling people our purpose… it’s not a secret!

“Our purpose as a full-time missionary is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end”

We had tremendous success from doing that this week! I will explain later 🙂 On Tuesday, we had MLC, so we drove up to “the City” (that is what we call OKC). Our council was focused on our mission culture and what it is. President wrote on the board “In our mission we…” and then had everyone finish it, for example “We invite and help” and “We are exactly obedient.” Sister Smith leaned over and whispered to me, “We are fat” hahahah I about died. It was a good meeting though! Later that night we went on exchanges. Sister Stewart, from Elgin, came with me to Lawton where we met with Jeff. We talked to him about his concerns about some of the commandments. He was willing to try, so we felt it best (and he agreed) to postpone his baptism until he is more committed. So his baptism will be in a couple weeks! We had the lesson with Brother Burbanks (single member) and Sister Tomany (senior missionary) at Brother Burbanks’ apartment.

Wednesday we did service at the Food Bank then went out to lunch for Sister Moore’s birthday! That evening after re-exchanging we gave a “church tour” and had a lesson with an investigator named John. It was soooo cool! A church tour involves taking someone around the church building; to make it even better, it was Mutual night so people were everywhere and it looked lively! John definitely felt the Spirit and even came to church yesterday! He is 19 and just moved from Hawaii!

On Thursday we met with Gerda and Stacy and had a GREAT lesson about the Restoration. Gerda, who was a former, is solid and was helping her friend, Stacy, understand everything. Friday was good, but the highlight of the day was seeing our recent converts- Bill and Carla! Saturday was cool. Sister Tucker, a new member move-in, came out with us. She just got married 2 months ago and her husband is in the army. She got back from serving a mission a year ago. We went to try contacting a less-active member who asked for missionaries to come over. We met him AND his non-member fiance! David and Brea! Brea was so into the discussion the whole time. We talked about our purpose 🙂 and it really set the tone and laid it all out there. We told them at the beginning that our goal is for her to be baptized because that is the gate and the first step! At the end, she agreed to read the Book of Mormon and she said she’d pray about baptism! Which is GREAT! It was a miracle indeed! We have a busy week ahead too and time is FLYING BY! I can’t believe it! A scripture that stuck out to me this week is in Jacob 1:17. Jacob says, “having first obtained mine errand from the Lord”. In the story he is about to go rebuke his people for their adulterous ways, but I thought of this scripture in a missionary way, too. As we prepare for the day through the Spirit, meaning through our personal scripture study and prayer, we can be guided and led to our errand for and from the Lord. I thought that was interesting. I love the Gospel and I especially love the Book of Mormon!

I LOVE Y’ALL! Happy Spring!

Love, Sister Roberts
