APRIL 14, 2014
This week was good. The weather here is so weird! It was 89 degrees one day and today it’s 39! It’s been so humid, too, which I forgot about. We also saw a scorpion… in our bathroom! AH!
Update on the week: Our Zone meeting went well. The training we gave went well. People participated and laughed, so that’s a good sign! We talked about companionship inventories. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a time each week when, with your companion, you set personal and companionship goals, talk about any problems in your companionship and give each other Christlike correction. So, for the most part it has a bad rep, and is joked about a lot. Some comps don’t even do it! So we rebuked them if they weren’t doing it and talked about how Christ corrected and loved using the story of the young rich man that asked Jesus how he could obtain eternal life. We re-wrote the story using comp inventory words and at the end when the young man goes away sorrowfully we replaced it with “the young companion got offended for he had great pride.” haha it was fun and they enjoyed it. We also talked a bit about mission culture and how we should act as missionaries. It went well!
On Tuesday we were able to go on exchanges with the Wichita Falls North sisters. Sister Best came to Lawton with me. Sister Best is brand new on the mission. She is a lot of fun! She is really passionate about the work so we had a good time, even though all our appointments and plans fell through! 😦 Wednesday, we re-exchanged, worked with some less actives and met with David and Bria that night. I love them so much! They came to church on Sunday and David bore his testimony!! (He is a less active member, and Bria is an investigator.) In his testimony he said how much he needs to come back and how the scriptures help us. Bria was even teary at the end. We taught the Gospel Principles class on charity, so we were with them the whole time. They really enjoyed church! On Thursday we taught the Book of Mormon study class. We watched Elder Andersen’s talk, taught about the Parable of the Sower and based it on Helaman 5:12. Overall it was a good week!
In light of Easter week I love this link (below) on lds.org about Jesus Christ. I love that it focuses on the fact that He lives! He died for us, but now he lives! I am so grateful for what He did for me personally and for you. We need to grow close to Him, we need to study His life and use the Atonement that He made possible. What a great gift we have. He is a perfect friend, brother, teacher and Savior! In all ways, we can look up to Him and as we pattern our lives after Him, we can live with Him and our Father in Heaven! What a great gift! This is the good news that we spread to the world! That His church has been restored! I love this Gospel with all my heart. I’m so glad I can be here sharing it! Have a great Easter week everyone!
